The Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (
SEAMEO) in collab0ration with the Asia-Pacific Center of Education for International Understanding (
APCEIU) organizes a 'SEAMEO-APCEIU Regional Meeting on the Use of Asian Folktales in Classroom' on 10-11 August 2010 at the SEAMEO Regional Center for Archaeology and Fine Arts (
SEAMEO SPAFA) in Bangkok, Thailand. The meeting is a component of the project called 'SEAMEO-APCEIU Collaboration on the Development of Learning Materials on Asia Folktales'.
The purposes of the meeting are as follows: 1. To share output of the questionnaire on Folktale in primary school which related to the methodologies, goals, and evaluation schemes used in these folktales, 2). To share information on recent developments and challenges in teaching and integrating folktales in the curriculum of primary education, 3). To collect ideas and suggestions on the development of possible learning materials in teaching folktales, 4). To exchange of information on how primary schools teach their own country's culture and the culture of others, and 5). To promote intercultural understanding through education.
